Last night saw another successful Women in IP Global Networking Event, supported by the AIPLA. The event was launched 10 years ago and has been growing exponentially and globally. As was stated in the inspiring promotional video, the event is “A chance for women to support and empower one another to reach their potential”.
In Ottawa, the event was hosted by the local offices of Marks & Clerk at the beautiful Rideau Club (ironically, a male only members club until the 1970’s!). A group of 20+ local women in IP gathered to connect and share experiences. The call in to other AIPLA gatherings in the same time zone was followed by a presentation and discussion facilitated by SC&C’s Kathryn Szymczyk on how women in IP can conduct business development their way for greatest success. A lively and fun session ensued. One of the participants, Gail Silver, Partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, Ottawa, noted of Kathryn’s presentation: “Kathryn was extraordinary with regards to the depth of her knowledge, her willingness to share this knowledge, and her ability in getting us all involved in actual group activities to put into action the tips she provided.”
We look forward to getting together with even more women next year as word of this fantastic event spreads!
